Hey, how are you? How’re you holding up?
I know it’s been a while since we last talked … come to think of it, it’s been a while since we’ve talked to anyone at all.
As the world slowly starts to open up, I’m happy to see that you’re getting your life back together – you’re catching up with friends (from a cute 6 feet distance), you’re venturing out to grab coffee from your favorite cafe that finally reopened (don’t forget your mask!), and I hear there’s even talk of you planning a trip with a friend in the fall (love that for you).
For your sake (and everyone else’s on this planet) let’s hope the only second wave we’ll be catching is on an impromptu surfing lesson in Hawaii.
Ok, it probably won’t be that glamorous, but I guess I just want to tell you that my fingers are crossed that you start to get your life back soon – because you deserve it.
Come to think of it, I think you deserve more than just getting your old life back.
We haven’t talked in a minute, so you can call me out if I’m in the wrong here. It’s been a while, maybe your life really was at a peak before the world went into hibernation.
But wasn’t there something that was bothering you? I can’t shake the feeling that there was – feeling stuck at your job maybe? Or was it that one “friend” that’s always been dragging you down? Actually, it might’ve been that thing you kept saying you’ve always wanted to do but never got around to? I really can’t remember, but I know there was something.
Look, I don’t know what got into me to be sitting here writing you this letter, but regardless, it feels urgent.
With Covid-19 bringing your whole world to a standstill, you’ve had more time than ever to think about the things that really matter to you, what you want in this life and how you would live it after all this gets resigned to a history book. I know you’ve been thinking a lot about your problem (really kicking myself for not remembering what it is right now), and I know you know how you’d go about solving it in an ideal world.
We’re by no means living in an ideal world here, but when it comes to starting fresh, has there ever been a better opportunity?
It’s kind of painfully ironic how the tail end of something as unideal and dystopian as a global pandemic is probably one of the best chances you’ll have to change up your life. Weird how that works, huh?
Anyways, I guess this is all just to say I hope that you show up for yourself in all the ways you couldn’t in the everyday distraction of pre-quarantine life. Your post-quarantine reality doesn’t have to be business as usual, and I want you to know that.
You deserve more, so why not take it?
All the best, and as always, I hope you stay safe.
